The Baby Bonus Scheme was set up by the Ministry of Social and Family Development in Singapore as a part of the Marriage and Parenthood Package to help parents with the financial costs of newborns and young children. It includes a Cash Gift, Child Development (CDA) benefits, and a CDA First Step Grant.
The CDA is a dedicated special savings account for your child’s educational and healthcare (including dental) expenses that can be utilised at all Baby Bonus Approved Institutions. Once the CDA has been activated, your child will receive the CDA First Step grant automatically. Then, the government will co-match every dollar you deposit (up to the maximum co-matching account). You can deposit and use the CDA until 31 December of the year when your child turns 12.
It is easy to sign up for the Baby Bonus scheme. You can submit the online form here two months before their delivery date. After your child is born or after the child’s enrolment, you can expect to receive the cash gift within seven to ten working days. The cash gift is disbursed every six months until your child turns six and a half years old.
The scheme was recently enhanced to provide more funds for new parents. Under the enhanced Baby Bonus Scheme, parents will receive $11,000 in cash for their first and second child, and $13,000 for their third and subsequent children. Then, parents receive up to $9,000 over the first 18 months, followed by $400 every six months until their child turns six-and-a-half years old.
Take note that you cannot withdraw funds from the CDA account; you can only use it to pay bills at approved institutions and clinics. For more information, visit the official website.
Le by An Dental is an approved dental clinic under the Baby Bonus Scheme. We are a boutique dental space providing dental services in a safe and peaceful environment for parents and their children.Â
You can use your child’s CDA funds to pay for dental services at our clinic.Â
CDA funds are applicable for dental procedures for your children, including:
The Baby Bonus is not limited to dental services; it can also be used for healthcare and educational expenses. However, that doesn’t mean you should keep all the funds for other purposes. Dental services for children should be prioritised, as regular dental visits and good oral hygiene practices are important for maintaining your child’s oral health.
Our dentists are highly trained and specialised in helping children feel comfortable during dental visits, such as using gentle steps to familiarise them with dental tools. We make the experience enjoyable so they don’t fear the dentist or have anxiety about routine dental visits.
When you come to the clinic for your child’s dental visit, you should bring their birth certificate and the NETS-CDA card to make payments. Just inform our receptionist that you would like to use the funds in the CDA account to pay the bill, and we’ll guide you accordingly.
Yes, you can. There is no age limit for siblings who want to use the Baby Bonus funds for another sibling’s dental services. For example, you can use the funds allocated for your four-year-old to pay for your fourteen-year-old’s braces.
