Dr Marlene Teo is a periodontist currently practising in Singapore. She graduated from the National University of Singapore, where she was the sixth dental graduate in its 64-year history to be awarded BDS Honours. Throughout her course of study, Dr Teo was awarded a total of 11 academic and clinical medals, including the Lee Kuan Yew gold medal (Best Student Throughout Course of Study), the Tratman Silver Medal (Most Distinguished Graduate) and the Dr FAC Oehlers Gold Medal (Best Clinical Student).

Dr Teo subsequently obtained her Masters in Periodontology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was selected as one of four finalists in the prestigious Orban competition. That same year, Dr Teo was also awarded the North Carolina-AADR Turner Research award. She’s an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, and an ITI Fellow. She is currently the President of the Women’s Implantology Network, South East Asia.

She was an Adjunct Lecturer at the National University of Singapore from 2006 to 2018. This involved supervising both undergraduates and postgraduates in the Periodontology program.

Dr Teo lectures extensively in English and Mandarin both locally and internationally. Her areas of interest are soft tissue aesthetics in implant dentistry and orthodontics, multidisciplinary treatment planning, dental tissue regeneration, dento facial esthetics, and treating patients with dental phobias. She’s also a key opinion leader for Straumann, Geistlich and Biogaia Prodentis.

Dr Teo maintains a clinical practice limited to periodontics and dental implants and is director of An Dental and Le by An Dental. She passionately believes in leading a holistic and healthy lifestyle to boost immunity and combat periodontal disease. She completed her Yoga Teacher’s Training in 2016 and has completed a foundational course in Nutritional Medicine from Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.  She is a strong advocate in treating a person from the  inside out as true wellness stems from a healthy body and mind.
